Your role as a Community Support Worker at WERS may include the following:
Client Support
Interviewing people who need assistance and determining the appropriate support based on WERS guidelines.
Information And Research
Sourcing information through various databases and services to guide client support.
Advocacy
Advocating on behalf of clients where needed and providing practical help such as negotiation, form-filling, and making appointments.
Record Management
Maintaining accurate records and completing statistical reporting.
Training And Development
Attending training sessions and staying updated on relevant community, state, and national issues.
Team Collaboration
Working cooperatively with others to support the aims and objectives of WERS.
Training
CISVic offers nationally recognised training which allows our volunteers to assess and meet client needs skillfully.
Community Support Worker Training
- 50-hour, 7-week program with weekly 2-hour classes (online or in person), assessments, and 14 hours of in-agency practical learning.
- Mentor support provided to guide participants through training and coursework.
- Certificate of Endorsement required, followed by a probationary period at WERS with ongoing guidance.
- Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) available for those with relevant experience or qualifications.
